Bret and Katy met and began dating in Lake Travis High School so they’re 100% high school sweethearts. They were apart for some time during college but once Bret graduated, he pursued Katy again and it’s been great for them both since.
The plan was to propose at the end of this year, but they were surprised to find they are expecting a little one. So Bret moved up his timeline and gave us a call. We were thrilled to be available!
While in high school, they both spent a lot of time at this dock and pond where friends of Katy lived. They built a lot of memories here together while they dated. It just made sense.
We worked together with Bret to make sure that we had a plan in place, even accounting for the rain that threatened things (it didn’t come until much later). Bret knew were Jesse and I would be: out in the open, just a couple hanging out on a weekend morning. Cameras were hidden until Bret got on his knee and asked Katy The Question.
Of course: yes.
Katy did confess later that she thought it might happen soon but she was still surprised when it did happen. When we chatted, she laughed that her first words to Bret after saying yes and seeing the ring where, “Get it on me!” Can’t say I blame her: it’s a gorgeous ring and she’d been waiting patiently for it!
