Capturing Those Special Moments that Last a Lifetime

Portrait Photographer - Austin, Texas

“Summer breeze makes me feel fine.”

-Seals & Crofts

We LOVE using Mercedes Morgan Photography! We have hired and recommended them so many times over the years for a reason. I know they have won awards for their wedding photography, but the individual and family portraits they do for us are always exceptional as well! Mercedes and Jesse have beautifully captured everything for our growing family from Graduation Photos to Wedding Celebrations to Family Portraits! They are FLEXIBLE, ACCOMMODATING and I love that they take time to get to know their client(s) in order to tell our stories through their pictures. As always they were super PATIENT during our most recent multiple-generational shoots (in Texas and Montana) and were able to manage our large group gracefully! If you are looking for exceptional photography skills and a great attitude these guys are it!

What People are Saying

Thank you so much for the pictures. They are simply amazing. I love them all. All my family and friends love the pictures. I am in awe. I appreciate your patience and dedication. Your work is impeccable. I cannot thank you enough.

– Lashunda

“Mercedes Morgan Photography took our family photos with our three children and they were so wonderful and easy to work with. Their outdoor “studio” at their ranch is simply stunning and they was so engaging and sweet with our kids. Reasonably priced and an amazing talent – would highly recommend them.”

– M. Billick

Mercedes Morgan Photography is magical. We have 2 toddlers and picture day always is fraught with unforeseen no-nap takers and bad moods. But she has a way of taking a day where you thought you weren't going to get any good ones and voila! the pictures are AMAZING. I don't know how she does it. She is also super responsive and flexible and fun to work with. Can't recommend them enough!

What should we wear?
The short story: be comfortable!
The long answer:
Some folks opt for dressy or super casual. Come in costume! Why not? Just bear a few things in mind when you’re deciding. First, we will be outdoors. So if you pick heels, be sure to bring flats with you to walk from the car to the site where we’ll be taking photos. Second: one outfit only, please.

How many people can we fit into one photo session?
The short story: as many as you bring.
The long answer:
We can certainly fit in a big group. But since our time is limited, the number of poses may be limited as well. A full session would be best if you have a large family of six or more. That will ensure that we can get one or two poses for each smaller, immediate family group.

Can we bring any props?
The short story: of course!
The long answer:
Please, do. Props to tell your 2021 story would be lovely to share with everyone who’ll see your images. I do recommend you limit how much you bring, though, and consider ease of carrying them so we don’t affect our shooting time. Also, please only bring what you can carry home with you. No confetti or things that are impossible to clean up. We want to be respectful of our surroundings, of course.

What happens if it rains?
The short story: we will reschedule your shoot.
The long answer: We want great photos just as much as you do, so if the weather is rainy, we’ll postpone and reschedule the session. Usually, we will contact you in advance if rain is in the forecast to suggest new dates and times when the weather will be nicer for your photo session.

Do you retouch the photos?
The short story: yes we edit and process all the photos we deliver
The long answer: You may appreciate a little de-aging, slimming, teeth whitening, making the eyes shine, and touching up hair roots. We’ll go over any specific requests on a photo-by-photo basis at the ordering meeting.

Do you photograph extended families?
The short story: yes of course
The long answer: Yes, all the time. Whether it’s in the summer or during the holidays, gathering your extended family is a wonderful opportunity for a family portrait session. We do these either at your home or a nearby park. During a session, we not only photograph the full extended family, but do the individual families, kids, grandparents with kids, the cousins, and more.

Can you help me figure out how to create a wall gallery?
The short story: yes of course
The long answer: es, if you order prints, we can help with the wall arrangement. We can do this in an ordering meeting online or at your home. We can also show you a mock-up of the prints’ various arrangements will look on your wall.

How do I book a session?
The short story: please fill out the contact form below and we will be in touch

Celebrating Moms

The Trotter House, Austin, Texas.

When we were given the opportunity to support a Christ-centered organization that supports moms, the answer was, “of course, yes!” The Trotter House, a local non-profit that supports women and families with unplanned pregnancies and beyond, hosted a day of mini sessions for their clients. We were honored to get to record these moments and milestones for them!

Mini Session in Driftwood, Texas

Dusty and Chelsea at our outdoor studio Driftwood, Texas.

It’s hard to believe that five years ago we photographed Dusty and Chelsea’s Wildflower Barn wedding. It was a pretty amazing day! Over the years, we’ve gotten to follow them on social media and it’s been pretty fun to see their family change. Phoenix was just eight and he wondered if I’d remember him. I do! Sweetest ring bearer ever! And we’d never even met Hazel who is adorable, clearly. Nice to finally meet you, Hazel with the eyebrow!

Quinceañera Celebration in Round Rock, Texas

Gigi's quinceañera celebration

Portraits for a special milestone in a girl’s life. We absolutely loved getting to photograph these portraits for Gigi! A quinceañera is a pretty big time in a girl’s life so we are pretty honored to do them for her. She’s just as comfortable in this gorgeous gown as she is in her tennies, dribbling a basketball.

Austin South Congress Family Session

Amy, Jordan and Margot on South Congress Austin, Texas.

We got to photograph Amy and Jordan’s engagement, Amy’s bridals, their wedding, and newborn Margot’s Houston newborn lifestyle session… now we get to play Austin family photographer for them. It was a pretty fun time since we got to spend time in a place we love: South Congress.

Fresh 48 for Baby Benea

A Fresh48 session for little baby Benea in Austin Texas

Capturing Benea’s little facial expressions had to be the best part! Next to mom and dad’s sweet interaction with her, that is. They couldn’t keep their eyes off her and the snuggles were many. There’s just something both heartwarming and profound about how a newborn looks at her mom and dad. The looks just speak of trust and comfort. And to watch mom and dad wonder over their little girl was a precious experience. They were totally captivated by every little part of her and she cooed and gazed at them in return.
