“…and they are very much in love…” was what managed to pull at my heartstrings and make me think I should go for it. They were looking for a photographer and I thought I’d try even though, at that time, I only had one wedding in my portfolio and that was a second shooting job at that.
Life gets interesting when you choose to take risks and so I did. “Very much in love” is worth it, after all.
Heather was kind enough to go through my wedding post and she took a risk, too. Risks can be fun and this one was.
My dear friend Simi was with me again. We got there early so we got to have brunch. I only bring that up because someone(s) had yarn-bombed the park next to the coffee shop where we ate. I chose to take it as a very good sign.
Off we go to the Times Ten Cellars. It was a very neat venue and it was perfect for their intimate wedding.

Heather and her sisters headed out to Wholefoods the night before and bought out all of their hydrangeas. The night before.

Better living through modern chemistry!

I love the facade of the bar in one of the rooms:

Her dress has its own story, too. This gorgeous dress is made with silk organza embroidered with real silver threads. Because of an unfortunate fabric shipping snafu, the seamstress worked a miracle with the material she had available to her. She did an absolutely fabulous job and I will be more than happy to track her down for you if you need a miracle dress maker.

Maura at The Paper Guppy made these wonderful wedding invitations. They’re absolutely perfect for them and she did a wonderful job on Heather’s trademark fish with a bicycle.
In lieu of corsages, the ladies of Heather’s family wore vintage corsages that she and Chris found during an expedition to Austin.

The ceremony was very short but make no mistake, it was very, very personal and moving.

We headed outside for some shots of the two of them. Heather and Chris, you were so great to put up with the heat!

The cake part was fun. Cake, decorated with the hydrangea by the bride herself:
The groom’s cake cookies, courtesy of his mom. I was told these cookies are crack so I am not sure if it’s good or bad that I didn’t try any.

There was no knife! Fortunately, someone had a pocket knife.
After cake, we did take the time for some bridal party shots.

Sign I have awesome clients: they will do things like this for me to catch with my camera:
Heather’s niece is cute and is partial to blue.

Ok, they’re nearly identical shots. I have to tell you that mom is laughing because there was an unusually long amount of time between the first and second shot. “He’s still going!”

Heather and Chris, I absolutely appreciate spending a few short hours with you. I’m going to be hanging around your place so I get to follow your “fish with bike” adventures. You are a wonderful, gorgeous couple and I wish you la dolce vita!
