Can you believe it? I got to spend time with these two precious, beautiful babies.

They are preemies but they are perfect. Perfect!

The little princess and her brother being swaddled by mom:

And because it is so sweet, I have to share this one with you before I go and work on more photos. She smiled!

I don’t care what they say about newborns, I know that’s a smile!

So Cal Vacation – Day One

September 2, 2010

Just a few to start things off.

Hold on, let me take a moment to let you know that these photos have been delayed because (1) I like to take my time in processing them. School starts soon, we’re finishing the last days of our vacation so Life is taking precedence. (2) I have since had the opportunity to shoot babies. I mean *babies*! I’ll let you see a sneak peak of those soon, ok? In the mean time…These are from our first day out in Orange County. We got together over at one of our old hangouts, the Irvine Spectrum for dinner and just to, well, hang out.

My oldest, enjoying my new phone. What’s he doing? Taking pictures, of course!

This is my middle sister. Hold on, let me introduce you to the rest of her family.

My nephew. Yes, I think he’s cute, too.

My brother in law. There’s a reason for the quirky smile. He was laughing at something he and my hubby were up to. Incidentally, it was hubby who took this one.

So. Much. Fun. You know kids, they don’t care how cold the water is, they just set their hearts on enjoying the experience and they do!

Dad does a great job of drying him off. Here are all three of them!

Later on, we all headed to the Adidas store for the sake of my oldest. The two younger boys got to play catch in the store. It’s ok, they were careful and didn’t break anything.

It’s not hard to tell this is just one of his favorite places to be, is it? I love that gleaming expression.

More photos to come! But let me leave you with this one that my oldest asked me to take:

More of the D family that I promised would come soon. And here they are!

They were my very first OpLove clients. You never forget the first, right? I definitely won’t. Mom went above and beyond to make the photo shoot a wonderful experience for all of us. She went so far as to go shopping for outfits, bring props and made sure everyone was in the best of moods. LD, you are sweet and thoughtful, I can’t thank you enough.

Have I mentioned how sweet they are?

How affectionate they are?

Dear D Family, thank you for letting me spend time with you on these photographs. But more than that, thank you for what you are giving up so that we can continue to have the freedoms we enjoy. You are an incredible blessing.

As always, many more after the click:

To this beautiful family: thank you for letting me take your photographs. You all give up so much and this is the least I can do. It doesn’t compare with what you are giving to your country.

These are just a few shots to share with you, more to come soon.

They are just beautiful!

Oh those eye lashes!

Those toes!

That look!

Such a beautiful family, inside and out.

JT is turning two! Happy birthday, little guy. I hope your far away family enjoys seeing your pictures. It was a blessing to be able to take them.

Yes, there are lots more…

A little sneak peak…

How many fingers is two again?

This past weekend, my friend and wonderful photographer Simi led an Austin group for the Scott Kelby 3rd Annual Photo Walk.

I think this one is my favorite.

500 points and addition to my “top geeks” list if you get the reference for the title “City of Heroes” (left).

I love the layers in this image. I wish I were more of a straggler so I could have had more folks in the shot. You think I should enter this one to the groups shot group on Flickr? I thought about it but it wouldn’t be the “official” one.

I just love this one for the movement.

To the photographers with the model doing the trash the dress shoot: thanks for your permission to shoot the shoot. That, and for letting me know that the dress was only $7 from Goodwill. You guys know how to literally trash a dress!

I have to pick three to submit to the Photo Walk contest. Halp!

Backyard Play

July 28, 2010

Recipe for an afternoon of memorable fun?

A trampoline for the adventurous
A sand pit
A hose and running water
Don’t forget to add lots of Friends
And a liberal pinch of joy

Trampoline! Not much more needs to be said.

Oh, sandy!

It’s one of those days—we moms know why—that the kids will have etched in their memories.

Night Photography

July 25, 2010

Who new it could be so much fun? So pretty?

Also, so fattening to have a brownie a la mode at Cafe Mozart. But don’t tell anyone that.

It was somewhat surprising that there were others out at night doing the same thing. They weren’t quite as giddy as we were, so I wonder if they enjoyed similar results.

Over the lake, the lights cast beautiful jewel tones on the water.

Did you know helicopter light trails could look like that? Me either.

Tomato Basil Sandwich

July 23, 2010

Can anything so easy be so delicious?

Absolutely. My neighbor asked me to water and pick her vegetables for her while they were away on a trip. A job? A chore? Nope: a pleasure! Do you know how good tomato plants smell when you brush up against them? You really need to make a point to find out if you don’t have an answer.

Slice 1/2 a cup of cherry tomatoes. Take at least five large basil leaves (more or less if you like), stack them, roll them then slice thinly. Toss together with the tomatoes and some sea salt and freshly ground pepper. Take a moment to smell the results.

Take an onion roll (or your choice of crusty bread roll, sandwich-sized), split it open and drizzle olive oil on the cut halves. Toast until just browning. Spread some goat cheese thinly over both sides (or more thickly if you like).

Pile the tomatoes high on the sandwich.

Chances are, you’ll have enough to share with someone so go ahead and toast a second onion roll. After all, good food tastes so much better when it’s shared. Enjoy!
