Smythwick Castle Texas Hill Country Weddings

Smythwick Castle is a perfect venue for your intimate Texas Hill Country wedding celebration

Once upon a time, back when we were newlyweds and enjoying the honeymoon we’d planned together, we really dug the little b&bs where we spent a little time here and there. Five years later, we planned another trip, again based on cute little bed & breakfasts that dot the California coast. We have a real soft spot for places that make sure you’re cozy at night.

The weathervane of Smythwick Castle, a Texas Hill Country wedding venue perfect for intimate celebrations with character.

Smythwick Castle in beautiful Marble Falls, Texas, is one of those places that really tug at the old heartstrings. Owner Linda Eliel is incredibly gracious and her warmth really shows not just in her demeanor but shows in the venue.

This unique space definitely has character in spades. Turrets are a must for any castle and Smythwick has one that, in the interior, doubles as the perfect spot where a couple can display their cake. A gourmet kitchen is a great feature, too! And an absolute must for Laura who also owns Bittersweet Cakes & Catering. Couples don’t have to search for a caterer (though they generously allow outside caterers at their venue).

With enough lodging for a typical-sized wedding party, Smythwick Castle is perfect for intimate wedding weekends. Spending a couple of days together makes a lot of things easier, yes. Set up and getting ready can be more laid back and relaxed, true. But more than that: you get to spend more time with the ones who you love and love you best! Each of the lodge rooms is cozily decorated, wonderfully appointed by your gracious host. Hand-painted designs and other very personal touches add to the charm. There’s more than enough room for a fun rehearsal dinner, too.

From a photographer’s perspective, of course, the idea of a castle-inspired location is lovely. But the grounds are much more than that. There’s a creek on the property that offers classic Texas Hill Country views. Trees and lots of life get our nature-loving selves excited, especially since they offer amazing sunset views. There are a couple of perfect ceremony sites including their gazebo and a heritage oak with a very generous shade canopy. And there’s a really pretty Model A Ford for more fun photo ops! Keep your eyes out for the resident chickens and peacocks and goats, too!

If you’re planning a more intimate wedding or elopement, makes sure you check their micro wedding packages. The value is amazing for the rate they offer and includes photography—*ahem* we’ll be there, schedule permitting—as well as an officiant, hors d’oeuvres, reception, and many more extras.

Check out the photos below! We can’t wait for the chance to get back for a visit and more photos…your wedding perhaps? Get in touch with us and we’ll make sure that part of your family history is remembered in beautiful pictures!
