It is an unusual thing to get a phone call asking if we’re available to photograph a wedding the next day, but that’s exactly what happened. The conversation with Marissa was short and sweet and less than an hour after the call, we were booked. And excited.
Excited for good reason. Camp Lucy—yes, please. But also? One of the kindest, sweetest couples were getting married.
When we arrived, Marissa was finishing up getting ready and surrounded by family. Dad helped towards the end of that process by dad. We didn’t get to learn much about Marissa and Joey as a couple before we started, but it didn’t take long at all before their love for each other, their love for their families, and their families’ love for them came through.
Their ceremony was so emotional and their deep devotion to each other and to their little ones was a huge part of it. It just seemed so natural when their son wanted to be in mom’s arms for part of the ceremony and for their daughter was ready with tissues as they were needed. And they were very much needed.
The day was capped with a simple reception: a wonderful meal shared with the ones that love them best of all. Toasts were heartwarming and drew deep-belly laughter. One of their nephews stepped up to toast them and he was rewarded with bear hugs from Marissa and Joey.
The day was filled with So. Much. Happy.
